Choreographer/Founding Member
bellydance
began 4 years ago. She was introduced to the art by Yusra, a close family
friend. Always a stage hog, she adored it immediately, and continues to search
for deeper and more heartfelt ways to communicate this passion to other women.
She attended Meredith College for 2 years, where she was a theatre major. Gina
currently is one of the Choreographers for Raq Mundi, and teaches the Beginning
Bellydance Class at Wilson Community College. "Dance like the light flows
through you, feel like the most beautiful woman in the room, never be ashamed of
your dance. It Is You."

Sibella
- Jennifer began dancing at age 6, but has only been belly dancing for the past
year. She has always been interested in dance of any kind, but had always wanted
to try bellydancing. When she stumbled on this wonderful group of women, she
joined right in and has never looked back! She has been dancing with Raq Mundi
since December ’06.
Kathy Jones -
Izdihar
A 55 year-old grandmother of one, Kathy returned to dancing after an absence of 40 years. "Belly dancing provides me with the means to express my spirit, exercise my body and share love and laughter with wonderful new friends." She feels that belonging to Raq Mundi is one of the best, most life-affirming experiences of her life.
Susan Sutton -
Ghadah
Susan has always been fascinated with people who dance, no
matter what kind. She became interested in belly dancing as a fluke. Susan
started by taking Sue's class at Wilson Tech one spring and immediately became
addicted. When she first saw Raq Mundi perform at a Hafla Susan knew that she
wanted to dance with them. She has been very taken with the beauty and discovery
of belly dance.
